At Multimetaal we like to take on large projects. Not only because our premises enable us to do so. Of course, our location next to the North Sea in the middle of nowhere is a definite advantage. But there is something about incredibly large valves that gives the challenge an extra edge. Occasionally we decide to give the valves names as well. This 18 ton valve was lovingly named ‘Big Mama’ by our mechanics. Our loyal transport partner Winder made sure ‘Big Mama’ was tilted safely and hauled into our workshop. There she took a bit of a rest before we started to disassemble her gently. Her treatment will consist of laser-cladding the seal pockets with Inconel 625. She is in good hands, and we will make sure she is returned home safely afterwards.
